Air-mover & dehumidifier sizing typicals
Structural drying uses two machines: air movers to evaporate water off surfaces and LGR dehumidifiers to pull it out of the air. A common rule of thumb is about one air mover per 50–70 sq ft and one LGR dehumidifier per ~500 sq ft at Class 2. These are labeled IICRC/AHAM planning typicals — the water class, materials and airflow change the real count. Use them in the drying-equipment tool.
| Affected area | Air movers (~60 sq ft each) | LGR dehumidifiers (~500 sq ft each) |
|---|---|---|
| 200 sq ft | 4 units | 1 unit |
| 500 sq ft | 9 units | 1 unit |
| 1,000 sq ft | 17 units | 2 units |
| 2,000 sq ft | 34 units | 4 units |
Air movers = ceil(area ÷ coverage); dehumidifiers = ceil(area ÷ LGR coverage). Labeled IICRC/AHAM planning typicals — the water class, materials and airflow change the real count; a certified technician confirms the plan.
